London Victoria Station Chaos As All Trains Suspended, Passengers Told ’Do Not Travel’

LONDON’S Victoria station has seen all lines suspended this morning after three power cuts caused a massive signal failure, leading to major commuter disruption across the capital and large parts southern England during rush hour. Southern Rail warned passengers not to attempt to travel to London as a result of the total loss of signaling power on three separate supplies in Streatham area.

There are currently no services to Victoria and limited services on other routes in the capital are overcrowded. National Rail said Gatwick Express services are suspended and Thameslink trains are also badly affected. There is no service on the Wimbledon/Sutton loop.

A National Rail spokesman said: “You are strongly advised NOT to travel via London Victoria this morning. “This incident also affects Thameslink services between Luton and Wimbledon which have been suspended until further notice.”

Frustrated rush hour commuters said bus services across the capital had also been thrown into chaos as a result of the situation at Victoria. Victoria is the second busiest station in Great Britain with 75.8 million passenger entries and exits, according to Network Rail figures in 2016-17.
